Save Money on Shipping - Two Costly Shipping Mistakes

Do you want to save money on shipping?  Most companies ship packages and large envelops and most use just one carrier with no oversight.  This could be costing your company a lot of money. Here are the two costliest mistakes we see companies committing:

First they are not taking advantage of the USPS commercial-based pricing rates over UPS or FedEx. There is a good reason for this.  Until recently, sending anything through the USPS was convoluted, confusing, and you never knew when your package would be delivered to your customer.  Not anymore!  By utilizing our sending software you can easily rate your piece, know when it will be delivered, and save up to 80% on the costs.  Our company is always looking to save money on shipping.  We company used to send 100% of our packages through UPS, now we send 95% of our packages through the USPS and it has saved us thousands of dollars without delaying deliveries.

Secondly the next biggest mistake is employees are sending packages “Air” when they should be sending them ground. For example we saw one large company sending packages from Carlisle, PA to Carlisle, PA utilizing UPS Next Day Air for over $30 when UPS is going to ship it Ground. Of course UPS isn’t going to tell you that you are overspending and the package will go Ground regardless.  The Ground rate would have been $9, so that is almost a 3 1/2x overspend.  What’s more is they could have sent it USPS and it would have been there the next day for $4.95!  And to make matters worse, it happened several times a day over their 50 locations. Again, this error was costing thousands and thousands of dollars.
